As environmentalists, designers, and craftspeople, we’re proud to work with components that are not only beautiful and functional, but also sourced with care. Every material we use reflects our commitment to sustainability, longevity, and ethical production.

Here’s a closer look at what we choose — and why.

Glass

We use premium-quality, often hand-blown glass in many of our lighting designs. It’s smooth, luminous, and endlessly recyclable. Our glass is sourced from trusted partners who prioritize clean production and minimal waste. Whether it’s frosted, clear, tinted, or sculptural — glass is where elegance meets permanence.

Paper

Our iconic lanterns feature washi-style or rice papers, carefully chosen for their light diffusion and natural texture. We work with small-scale suppliers who honor traditional techniques and sustainable forestry. The result is a delicate material that glows warmly while honoring the Earth it came from.

Metal

From stainless steel to brushed brass and powder-coated aluminum, our metals are selected for their strength, finish, and recyclability. Many of our metal components are crafted by regional manufacturers, reducing transportation emissions and supporting local industry. They're made to last — and age beautifully.

Wood

We love working with real wood — especially when it’s sourced responsibly. Our wooden bases and accents are made from FSC-certified forests or reclaimed stocks, ensuring no unnecessary trees are cut. Wood adds warmth, grounding, and texture to our more sculptural pieces, and we never coat it in synthetic finishes.

Acrylic & Plastic

When we use acrylics or other plastics, it’s intentional. We opt for high-grade, durable, and non-toxic materials, chosen for their clarity, weight, and formability. We work with local molders and avoid unnecessary plastic packaging. These materials allow for playful shapes without sacrificing quality.

Stone

Stone grounds our collection with quiet strength. Whether it’s travertine, marble, or onyx, we source stone from regional quarries committed to ethical labor and sustainable extraction. Each stone piece is unique — a reminder that nature doesn’t do replicas.

LED Components

All of our lighting uses energy-efficient LED technology, carefully integrated to minimize waste and maximize longevity. Our LEDs are sourced from certified suppliers and built into designs that reduce the need for replacements. Cool to the touch, long-lasting, and low on power — just the way lighting should be.
