Studio Blog 2: The Celestia Ceiling Light

Welcome back to the Studio Blog! Today, Futura's Studio is thrilled to showcase a piece that combines elegance and timeless design: The Celestia Ceiling Light.

The Celestia Ceiling Light, designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Flos in 1981, is a testament to refined craftsmanship and innovative design. Manufactured in Italy, this light features a linen fabric diffuser, a powder-coated pressed aluminum body, and steel diffuser positioning rods.

Crafted with Precision

Afra & Tobia Scarpa’s design for the Celestia Ceiling Light is a perfect blend of form and function. The linen fabric diffuser provides a soft, ambient light, while the powder-coated aluminum body and steel rods ensure durability and stability. This piece not only illuminates but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of any room.

A Piece of History

Our Celestia Ceiling Light model comes from a later production in the 1990s and remains in excellent condition, complete with the original manufacturer’s label and sticker. Its five E27 sockets offer ample illumination, making it a practical and stylish choice for any space.

Italian Design Excellence

Featured in the January 1984 issue of Domus (646, p.111) and Giuliana Gramigna's "Repertorio del design italiano 1950-2000 per l’arredamento domestico" (Umberto Allemandi, 2003, p.310), the Celestia Ceiling Light is a celebrated piece in the world of design. It reflects the rich tradition of Italian craftsmanship and the innovative spirit of its designers.
